When my brother got sick he started acting all weird and had to go to the hospital. My mom and dad were pretty worried and busy helping him. When he first came home he didn't want to play with me. After awhile, he started to feel better, and now I can have fun with him again.

Why is my brother or sister acting so weird?
Your brother or sister may be sick with psychosis. When your brain gets sick with psychosis it makes it hard to think very well. This makes a person with psychosis, like your brother or sister, very confused. They might be acting strangely because their brain isn't working very well.
Is it my fault?
No, it is definitely not your fault. Other people can't make someone get psychosis. It is a medical illness.
Can I catch it?
No, psychosis isn't like a cold or the flu where you get it from being around other people. You can't catch it by being close to someone who has psychosis.
Do they still love me?
Yes, they do. It might be hard for them to show it right now, though, because their brain is so tired and sick.
Why is this happening to our family?
There are all kinds of reasons why people get sick. Sometimes things happen that are hard to deal with, but your family will make it through.
Will they always be this way?
Your brother or sister can take medication and get treatment that will help them get better. Psychosis is an illness that usually needs the person to keep taking their medication even after they feel better. This will help keep them well.
